Lemons

This simple idea for istock has been in my head forever. But I could never find the right props. Until I went to Meijer one day and saw this table cloth on clearance for 10 dollars. It is the perfect contrast to the yellow. Im probably a little late adding these to istock this late in the summer, but I'm sure they will be great sellers next spring and summer.

The most difficult and most important part to any photo in my opinion is the lighting. If your light looks like hell, the photo will look like hell. I'm still new at food photography so I've been trying simple setups to get some practice. When it comes to technicalities of lighting, I can never explain what I do, so don't ask. For this shot I had a beauty dish bouncing off the ceiling (which is probably weird to anyone), and another strobe bouncing off the wall as fill.

(I always feel like a creeper at the store, fondling through the produce trying to find the prettiest fruits and vegetables)

Beach Bum

Coast Guard Festival was a few weekends ago in Grand Haven. After the town emptied I shot some new photos of Bretton for istock and promo use. I got a new 50mm 1.4/f  lens a few weeks ago so I wanted to try it out as well. It was almost raining when we got down there, but once we were ready the sun came out. I had the vision already planned in my head for a few weeks. Nothing complicated, but it turned out exactly as I had visioned. I usually think of ideas for photos when I'm super busy doing something else, and day dreaming myself away (running on autopilot). The blue in the shirt he's "wearing" was a cheap T-shirt I got a while ago. Its my favorite color blue and I've always thought that the color looked great against tan skin. So, I cut up the shirt and he worked it.
